This work perhaps established the genre of "Town Opera".  This spectacular work was commissioned by the Janice Thompson Performance Trust with the aid of a National Lottery Grant. 

 

The "Cynics Chorus" comment on the action representing an outsider's view of Swindon.  Their music is more complex, at one time becoming four part counterpoint in a homage to John Dowland.
